Is your website mobile friendly? - Google asks!

Google will now be checking your site!

Many of you by now should be aware of the new changes to how websites are evaluated and rated on Google's search results. Last month, it was announced that Google will now be rating a website on whether it is mobile friendly or not. Mobile friendly means that your website will appear differently on a mobile phone that shows text and articles clearly with a smother experience. If your site does not meat their new requirements then this will have a negative impact on your search ranking. This does not help if you are a business that is currently investing a lot in your website to make it on the first page.

Does your website have a responsive design?

You can test your own site by either using the link provided that takes you to Googles test pageClick <HERE> to test your website.

This site provides a simple service to tell you if your site is indeed mobile friendly or not. By entering your business website address into the box, The website will check for you and display the results.

A quick an easy way is to just reduce the size of your browser on your desktop to see if the page changes to fit the new screen size. That is of course if you are not using a mobile to read this article. In which case, this gives a perfect sample of how a mobile friendly site will adjust itself to fit neatly in your screen with simple scroll-able actions.

It's not all doom and Google...

There is good news with the new strategy by Google. They will not just be punishing those who are not silly enough to update their site to something that should have been done at the beginning of the smartphone boom, but they will also be awarding those that have done. For every site that is mobile friendly with a responsive design, Google will be rewarding the site by improving their rankings on their search results.

So don't panic and get straight onto the chaps that design your site. It is not a difficult and expensive thing to adjust!
